What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your email address and password (handled securely by our authentication provider — we never see or store your raw password).
  • If you sign in with Google instead, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google to create your account.
  • A display name and any profile details you choose to add.

When you use Birlik, we also store:

  • The posts, comments, and reports you create, including any optional details you add (country, price, contact info, and so on).
  • Basic technical data needed to keep the site running and secure, like session tokens used to keep you signed in.

We don't run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on Birlik, and we don't buy or sell data about you.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Run your account and keep you signed in.
  • Show your posts, comments, and display name to other members.
  • Review reports and enforce our Terms of Service, including moderation and bans.
  • Keep the platform secure and working correctly.

What other members can see

Your display name, country (if you set one), and anything you post — including any contact details you choose to add to a post — are visible to other members. Your email address is never shown publicly. Contact information in a post is only visible to signed-in members, not to anonymous visitors.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We use trusted infrastructure providers to run Birlik — our database and authentication provider, and Google (only if you choose Google sign-in) — who process data on our behalf strictly to operate the service. We may disclose information if required by law.

Your control over your data

You can edit or delete any post or comment you've created at any time. You can also permanently delete your account — and everything you've posted — from your Profile page. This can't be undone.

Security

Access to your data is controlled at the database level, so members can only see and change what they're supposed to. All traffic to Birlik is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Birlik is not intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
